Ernest S. Wisyanski

February 6, 1932 — February 13, 2016

Ernest S. Wisyanski, 84, of Rostraver Twp., formerly of Monessen, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday Feb. 13, 2016. He had enjoyed a great life with his wife and family and especially with his friends in the Monessen French Club Golf League and the Speers Boat Club Tuesday Night gang. He was born on Feb. 6, 1932 in Monessen, a son of the late Stephen Wisyanski and Sarah Sutton Wisyanski. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Margaret Wisyanski. Following graduation from Monessen High School in 1950, Ernie entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War until 1955. Ernie became a police officer in Monessen and was a member and past president of the Mon Valley Fraternal Order of Police. He retired in 1998 from Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, where he worked as a Tax Office Administrator for 30 years. Ernie was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church where he served as usher, and a former member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Ernie was active in the Monessen community, having served on the Monessen School Board for 6 years and also was elected to Monessen City Council where he served for 20 years. He was a past president and secretary of the Monesssen Lions Club, past president of the Monessen Hungarian Beneficial Club, a member of the Monessen Knights of Columbus #954, member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Golf League, a former member of the Monessen and Charleroi Elks and the Belle Vernon Moose Club. An ardent Pittsburgh Steeler fan, he belonged to the Monessen Sunday Club and attended games for thirty years. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Georgia C. (Kerestan) Wisyanski, a daughter, Rebecca Lynn (David) Kierski, three sons, Stephen (Timi Lesperance) Wisyanski, William (Isobel) Parks, Kevin (Donna) Kaylin, a sister, Stephany Beck, four grandchildren, Allan (Camille) Parks, Elisabeth Parks, Kristen (Johathan) Sarratt, Haila Dayne Kaylin, a great grandson, Jonah Sarratt, and by his nieces, Nikki Ann and Kelly Beck, and Jill Thompson. Friends will be received on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from1:00 pm - 3:00 and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday February 17, 2016, beginning with a 9:00 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian Church, Belle Vernon.
