George H. Stratigos, 87, of Monessen, died peacefully on Sunday December 10, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 31, 1930 in Wilkinsburg, the son of the late Harry G. and Argiro (Konomou) Stratigos. George's childhood years were spent in Kythera, Greece during WWII where he and his family endured the occupation of their island. He returned to the US when he was 16 years old. Mr. Stratigos owned and operated Snacks Enterprises along with his late wife Eva. He was a member of St. Sypridon Greek Orthodox Church, served as president of Parish Council, was a member of AHEPA, the Chios Society, and was a founder of St. Spyridon Hellenic Center. Mr. Stratigos was a life long Mason and a member of the Tri County Lodge No. 252 F&AM, Donora. He is survived by his children, Sylvia S. Fafalios, Harry G. (Rebecca) Stratigos, Chrisan (James) Olah, four grandchildren, Anastasi (Alice) Fafalios, Carissa (Pantelis) Fafalios, Eveana Olah, Melina Stratigos; a brother James (Stella) Stratigos, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Eva D. (Fisfis) Stratigos, a brother Anthony Stratigos, and a sister Toula Stratigos. The Stratigos family is grateful to the care givers from OSPTA for the wonderful care and compassion they provided. Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday Dec. 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Additional visitation will be held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday Dec. 13, 2017 at 9:00 am followed by funeral services at 10:00 am with Very Rev. Joseph Cervo officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
