Richard N. DiMascio

Richard N. DiMascio, 63, of Monessen, died Friday March 11, 2016 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, due to a work related accident. He was born on August 16, 1952 in North Charleroi, the son of Angeline (Scirotto) DiMascio, of Monessen, and the late Cataldo DiMascio. Rich was a life long resident of Monessen, a 1970 graduate of Monessen High School, and a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where he received his degree's in City Planning and Administration, and Criminal Justice. He was retired from the City of Monessen Police Department, where he served as Chief, Capitan, and Lieutenant during his career. Following his retirement, he worked for Mon Valley E.M.S. as a transport driver, and for both the City of Monessen and Borough of Donora as a Code Enforcement Officer. Rich was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, was a licensed aircraft pilot, and a devoted Pittsburgh Pirate fan. He was a proud resident of Monessen and was dedicated to the betterment of the community. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah A. (Jackson) DiMascio, three sons, Richard (Krisha) DiMascio of N. Belle Vernon, David DiMascio and Joseph DiMascio of Monessen; a sister, Diane (Fred) Wright of East Lansdowne, and by his beloved pet dog, Prince. Friends will be received on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Tuesday beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing Service in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 618 Knox Ave. Monessen, with Fr. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
