Sam R. Fuoco

Sam R. Fuoco, 92, of Monessen, died Friday Nov. 10, 2017 in Residence at Hilltop. He was born on July 12, 1925 in Monessen, the son of the late Joseph Fuoco Sr. and Ralpha (Leone) Fuoco. Sam was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1944 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army with the 283rd Engineer Battalion in Central Europe and Northern France. Sam retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., having worked in the open hearth stripper department. He also enjoy helping his friends at Luchessi's Restaurant in Monessen. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church where he served as usher for 45 years. Sam was a member of the Epiphany Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 954, American Legion Post 28, VFW Post 1190, Eagles Aerie 2399, and Italian Society of Mutual Aid. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler season ticket holder for 43 years and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan. He is survived by his two nieces, JoAnn (Paul) Propcheck of Duncansville, PA; Carol J. (Chuck) Roman of Bentleyville; great nephews Chuck, Chase, and Clay Roman, all of Bentleyville.  Sam wanted to thank his neighbor Joyce Aiello for her friendship over the years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph "Jumbo" (Judy) Fuoco, Edward (Alfreda) Fuoco, and by a niece Caryn Alicia Fuoco. Friends will be received on Monday Nov. 13th from 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Tuesday beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Monessen, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The following services will be held on Monday evening in the funeral home: American Legion and VFW service at 6:30 pm, Knights of Columbus service at 7:00 pm.
