Paul L. Ciccarelli, 93, of Monessen, died Sunday Nov. 26, 2017 in Hallsworth House, Monessen. He was born on April 13, 1924 in Monessen, the son of the late Pietro and Rosina (Portante) Ciccarelli. Paul was a 1942 graduate of Monessen High School, received his bachelor's degree from California State Teachers College and his masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Ciccarelli retired from the Monessen School District where he taught in the high school for over 30 years. He had also worked for Westmoreland Engineering. Paul served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army Co A 188th Paratrooper Infantry Regiment 11th Airborne Division in New Guinea and Southern Philippines. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Holy Name Society, Italian-American Heritage Society, American Legion Post 28, Knights of Columbus Council 954, Pennsylvania State Education Association, and had volunteered with the Monessen Meals on Wheels program. He is survived by his four children, Barry Ciccarelli of Forrest Hills, Paula (William) Wamsley of Sharpsburg, MD, Marla (Vincent) Sacco of Leesburg, VA, Darla (Jeffrey) Rivi of Fairfax Station, VA; six grandchildren, Matthew (Cori) Wamsley, Marc (Tia) Wamsley, Vincent and Lauren Sacco, Joseph and Nathan Rivi; four great grandchildren, London and Talia, Serenity and Micah; two sisters-in-laws, Helen Ciccarelli and Stephanie Martin, both of Monessen; and by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marie (Martin) Ciccarelli, two brothers Guido and Joseph Ciccarelli, and a brother-in-law Robert Martin. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday Dec. 2, 2017 beginning with a 9:00 am Blessing in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Monessen, with Fr. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen. The following services will be held on Friday evening in the funeral home: American Legion Post 28 at 6:30 pm, Knights of Columbus Council 954 at 7:00 pm.
