Alba DePaulis Zugaro

August 20, 1926 — November 1, 2012

Alba (DePaulis) Zugaro, 86, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in McMurray Hills Manor. She was born in Paganica, Italy on August 20, 1926, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Olympia Iovenitti DePaulis. Alba was a warm and loving mother and grandmother. She came to the U.S. from Italy in 1953 after marrying her husband, the late Alfred Zugaro. Throughout her marriage, she was the quintessential homemaker and mother. She was talented in so many ways and self -taught in most. Anyone who had the opportunity to join one of Alba's fine Italian meals will attest to her culinary skills.Alba enjoyed many beach vacations on the east coast with her children and grandchildren over the past 15 years. She loved to walk the beach all day; always talking about how many miles she had walked. Her last trip to Hilton Head was in 2008 with her entire family. It was a wonderful time and despite her failing health, she still had a smile on her face and made everyone laugh with her dry sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her family.Mrs. Zugaro was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, the former St. Cajetan Rosary Altar Society, and the Ladies Italian Society of Mutual Aid, all of Monessen. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosanna and Ted Milley of McMurray, Diana and Joe Becker of Upper St. Clair, a brother Alessandro DePaulis of Melbourne, Austrilia, six grandchildren, Lauren and Devon Milley, Joey, Brian, Caitlin and Kelsey Becker, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Domenico and Pietro, and two sisters, Adelphina and Rachaela.Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, on Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 from 2 to 6 pm. Services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, beginning with a 11:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Monessen.Alba's family suggest memorial contributions be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
