Alex "Pap" S. Tretter, 86, of Monessen, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at his home.He was born in Monessen on June 19, 1923, the son of the late Celeste and Louise (Tolotti) Tretter. Alex was a life long resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. He was also a member of Ravens A.A., and the Sons of Italy. He was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, having worked in the Monessen Plant, and then retiring from the Allenport Plant where he worked in the slab yard. Alex was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved sports, whether it was local sports or professional sports, he was the number one sports fan.He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army 143rd Infantry Regiment and was a P.O.W. in Germany.He is survived by wife of 64 years, Mildred (Mislo) Tretter, two sons and daughters-in-law, Alex C. and Connie Tretter of Brownsville, Gary and LuAnn Tretter of Monessen, a brother, Joseph Tretter of Belle Vernon, four grandchildren, David (Sara) Hudock of Bridgeville, Joseph (Phylis) Hudock of Carmichales, Chris "Rocky" (Barb) Tretter of Greensburg, and Shannon (Nicholas) Racculia of Greensburg, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dominic Tretter, and a sister Theresa Carrozza.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, with the time to be announced for the Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp.Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
