Andrew P. Dzatko, 89, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Wexford House. He was born in Monessen on October 14, 1926, the son of the late George and Mary Kopcho Dzatko. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and life member of St. John the Baptist Russian Club, Charleroi; American Legion Post 22 Charleroi, and Eagles Aerie 2399, Monessen. He retired from Corning Glass with 47 years of service. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army. Andy enjoyed gardening, bowling, pitching horseshoes, playing cards, spending time with family, and going to the casino's. Andy was also known as the candy man, passing out candy to everyone he met. . He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Kay (Hotchkiss) Dzatko, three sons, Mark Dzatko of Derby, KS, Andrew (Diane) Dzatko Jr. of Monessen, Ronald (Tina) Vernet of Shelby Twp., MI, three daughters, Kathy Vernet of Monessen, Mary Ann (Mitch) Kuchta of Allison Park, Peggy Hepler of North Huntingdon, twelve grandchildren, Heath Vernet, Tracy Adams, Matt Rothwell, Cameron & Arianna Kuchta, Michael Dzatko, Annie Dzatko, Kayla, Taylor, and Nicolas Hepler, Amanda Anders, and Heather Gates, eight great grandchildren, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Thomas Dzatko, five brothers, George, John, Joseph, Michael, and Edward Dzatko, and by his first wife, Gloria Cardinale. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Monday, beginning with a 11:30 am Panachida in the funeral home, followed by 12:00 pm Divine Liturgy in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rostraver Twp. Parish rosary will be recited at 2 pm Sunday in the funeral home followed by Panachida.
