Anthony "Tony" Bellicini

Anthony "Tony" Bellicini, 90, of Monessen, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2009 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Broughton, PA on July 30, 1918, the son of the late Giacomo and Stephanina Cataneo Bellicini. Mr. Bellicini grew up in Ellsworth, and was a 1937 graduate of Ellsworth Cokeburg High School. He has been a resident of Monessen for over 50 years, and was a member of St. Sebastian R. C. Church. He had previously been a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus R. C. Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 954 and MARS, both of Monessen, the VFW Post 167, Elks Lodge 494, and Corning Glass Retires, all of Charleroi, the Mon Valley Slovak Society, FCSLA Sr. Branch 88, the Senior Swimmers of California University of PA, and United Mine Workers Association. Tony had served as Assistant Troop Leader for the Holy Name Boy Scout Troop #509 for many years. He loved to play golf, hunt, swim, play euchre and bowl. Tony had worked for Bethlehem Steel Company at their Cokeburg and Ellsworth Mines, and later worked for Corning Glass Works in Charleroi, retiring in 1981. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from 1941 until 1945.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Veronica Macik Pushkar Bellicini, a daughter Ruth Ann (Pushkar) Panion and husband Lewis of Titusville, a son David J. Pushkar and wife Sandra of Queenstown, MD, two brothers, Paul Bellicini and wife Betty of Eighty Four, Michael Bellicini of Ellsworth, a granddaughter, Tonya (Panion) Bishop and husband Richard of Aston, PA, two grandsons, Jeremy and Taylor Jones of Queenstown, MD, two great grandchildren, Catherine and Adam Bishop of Aston, PA, a brother-in-law, Edward Macik of Anaheim, CA, two sisters-in-law, Daisy Bellicini of Roswell, NM, and Mary Bellicini of New Eagle, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, three infants, and Andre, Dominic, and Leo Bellicini, his stepmother Mary Sturniak Bellicini, and by two grandsons, Nathan Panion of Titusville and Andrew Pushkar of Queenstown, MD.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Thursday Jan. 29, 2009, beginning with a 9:15 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian R. C. Church with Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen.
