Anthony R. Scuteri, 92, of Monessen, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Donnell House, Washington, PA.He was born in Monessen on March 6, 1921, the son of the late Peter and Christina Battaglia Scuteri. Mr. Scuteri was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1939 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and a former member of its Holy Name Society, Mon Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers, Elks Lodge 773, and Knights of Columbus Council 954. He was retired with 42 year of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., having worked as a crane operator in the finishing side electric. Following his retirement, he worked for The Valley Independent as an inserter for 13 years. He was a veteran of WWII , having served with the U.S. Army in Co. B, 315th Engineer Battalion, 90th Infantry Division.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Amelia Nudo Scuteri, three sons, Anthony (Sheryl) Scuteri of Sheffield, PA, Russell (Ani Marie) Scuteri of Wilmington, NC, Peter Scuteri of Monessen, two daughters, Melanie Schrader and Maria Scuteri, both of Monessen, a brother, Donald (Patricia) Scuteri of Anaheim, CA, two sisters, Betty Veddar of Fairless Hills, Lorraine (Thomas) Hodges of Monessen, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores (Danko) Scuteri in 1954, and by a sister Rose Lutes.Visitation and services are private.
