Bernard J. Reday, affectionately known as Bernie, of Monessen, Pennsylvania, sadly passed away on August 7, 2025. Born on March 11, 1927, in Charleroi, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Mary Jean Reday. Bernie was a cherished husband, father, and uncle, known for his kind and funny spirit as well as his dedication to those around him. He took great pride in his hobbies, particularly his garden and lawn, and was recognized for his artistic talents, often creating signs for local businesses in and around Monessen. A devout Catholic, Bernie was a longstanding member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and formerly of Holy Name Church. He graduated from Monessen High School in 1944 and served honorably as a Third Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Professionally, Bernie dedicated 45 years to his role as a parts manager at John L. Gibson Chevrolet and Oldsmobile Garage before his retirement. His extensive community involvement included membership in the Monessen Slovak Home, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Croatian Club, where he also served as a life member and former officer. Additionally, he contributed to his community through 35 years of service on the Air Pollution Board and the Planning Commission of the City of Monessen. Bernie will be remembered for his significant contributions to both his community and profession, as well as for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lou Reday, and his wife, Yolanda “Yola” Reday. He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Myers of Santa Clarita, California, as well as his siblings-in-law Rose, Beatrice, and Carl Mendarino; ; Grace and Jim Manges; Gloria and Bob Backstrom; Don Garland and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hallsworth House for their compassionate care and companionship. Friends will be received on Thursday August 14th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. A blessing service will follow at the funeral home. Entombmentment will be in the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Monessen PA 15062. Condolences are being accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
