Bernard "Bat" Marmie, 80, of Donora, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 13, 2019 at his home. He was born on September 7, 1938 in Monessen, the son of the late Bernard A. and Edith (Domenick) Marmie. Bernie grew up in Monessen and was a graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1968. Bernard had worked at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, and had also worked as a DJ for various venues. He was a member of the former PNA Club in Monessen. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia (Peters) Marmie, step daughter, Linda (Scott) Young of Lima, OH; step son Bill (Stephanie) Lang of Lake Butler, FL; three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, and Bronson; brother, Raymond F. Marmie of Pahrump, NV; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Marmie and Geraldine N. McMurray, and a brother Donald Marmie. Friends will be received in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen, on Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Services will be held 12:00 pm, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
