C. Daniel "Danny" Galvan, 61, of Monessen, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.He was born in N. Charleroi, PA on July 23, 1949, the son of Laverne T. (Bonari) Galvan, who survives of Monessen, and the late Charles Galvan. Danny grew up in Monessen, was a 1967 graduate of Monessen High School, and lived his whole life in the Mon Valley. "Captain Dan" was a former disc jockey, having played at numerous clubs throughout the Mon Valley. He served with the U.S. Navy reserves from 1968 to 1972.In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Carol (Jack) Swoger of Fredericktown, Nancy Hnatko of Belle Vernon, Lisa Altenbaugh of Richmond, VA, Gina Galvan of Belle Vernon, a brother, Randy Galvan of Monessen, and by nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank the staff of the Greenery in Canonsburg for taking care of Danny.
