Cataldo "Cal" DiMascio

Cataldo "Cal" DiMascio, 96, of Monessen, died Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. He was born in Monessen on July 11, 1918, the son of the late Nicholas DiMascio and Philomena Bernardo. Cal was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1937 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, a life member of the Sons of Italy and Italian Society of Mutual Aid, and a member of Disabled American Veterans. Cal had worked for American Chain and Cable, Page Division, in Monessen for 31 years, and later for Corning Glass in Charleroi, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in Europe. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Angeline Scirotto DiMascio, a son, Richard (Debra) DiMascio of Monessen, a daughter Diane (Fred) Wright of East Lansdowne, PA, a brother, William DiMascio of Greensburg, four grandsons, Richard, David, and Joseph DiMascio, John Cataldo Wright, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic, Armand, and Mario DiMascio, and by four sisters, Angeline Colontonio, Caroline Tortice, Yolanda Diehl, and Helen Richwine. Private family visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment with, Military Honors, will be in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
