Charles E. Salizzoni Jr.

Charles E. Salizzoni Jr., 91, of Greensburg, formerly of Monessen, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  Charlie had been a resident of Newhaven Court at Linwood the past few years.  He was born in Smithton on January 26, 1924, the son of the late Carlo and Mary Orlandi Salizzoni. Charlie was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church. He was an active member of both church's and enjoyed helping out in the kitchen. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Charlie was retired from General Motors, having worked for 33 years as a sewing machine repairman. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army in Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe with Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry. He is survived by two sisters, Gloria Robinson of Fairfield, OH, Irene Salizzoni of Greensburg, two nieces, Clara Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, Debbie Babilya of West Newton, and by two nephews, William Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, Norman Santori of Kittanning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Salizzoni, and a sister, Clara Santori. Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, on Friday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum. Condolences are accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
