Dennis P. Bernard, 65, of Monessen, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday September 26, 2018 in the ER of Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born on February 23, 1953 in North Charleroi, the son of the late William A. and Claire (Burke) Bernard. Dennis was a resident of Monessen most of his life and a 1972 graduate of Monessen High School. He had work at the former Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and later for Smith Construction until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Debbie (Galayda) Bernard, a brother, Andrew Bernard, a sister, Jill (Michael) Savage, step son, Jack Smith; step daughter, Amy (Bill) Matush; step grandchildren, Lacey, Coby, and Bailey Matush; niece, Brittnay (Kye) Ehrman; and by a great nephew, Brayden Ehrman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brother, Skip, Brian, and Jack Bernard. Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Friday at 7:30 pm in the funeral home with Fr. Michael J. Crookston, officiating. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
