Domenick S. Valente, 86, of Monessen, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home.He was born in Monessen on December 18, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Maria Rosa Valente. Domenick was a 1944 graduate of Monessen High School and served with the U.S. Navy as a Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class during WW II. He retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. having worked in the lab, and had also worked for Steve Godla as a metal fabricator. Domenick was an avid woodworker and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie A. (Bucci) Valente, a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph F. and Beverly Valente of Crafton, three grandchildren, Jenny Lynn Valente of Coraopolis, Lisa Ann (Carl) Smith of Crafton, Joseph (Melanie) Valente Jr. of Brentwood, five great grandchildren, Michael Acheson, Reece Smith, Tommy, Gregory, and Alyssa Valente, four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Frank of Baltimore, MD, Dolores (Irv) Becken of Rochester, NY, Joyce (James) Cunningham of Lynnwood, Helen Bucci of Fellsburg, brother-in-law, Joe (Theresa) Bucci of Elmira, NY. and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Louise Valente, three sisters Louise, Carmella, and Jennie Valente, and by two brothers-in-law, Anthony Frank and Michael Bucci.Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750). Services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012, beginning with a 11:00 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by an 11:30 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church.
