Donald E. Frolo, 70, of Monessen, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., following a lengthy illness.
He was born in N. Charleroi, on September 12, 1943, the son of the late Peter and Mary Verbanic Frolo. Don was a lifelong resident of Monessen, and a 1961 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, the NRA, and various local sportsman's clubs. Don was a lifelong outdoorsman, having enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons, and friends. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served with the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa, Japan. Don retired from the Irvin Works of United States Steel, having worked as a turn foreman.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice M. (Ellin) Frolo of Monessen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Diana Frolo of Rostraver Twp., Jeffrey and Dayna Frolo of Rostraver Twp., Mark and Tiffany Frolo of Monessen, two sisters, Anna Marie Wassall of Warwick, RI, Debi (Jim) Felix of Pittsburgh, six grandchildren, Jessica, Meghan, Brianna, Derek, Caitlyn, and Cameron Frolo, a sister-in-law, Dolly Cieply of Monessen, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Ellin.
Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm, and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, beginning with a
9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen.
