Francis Andrew Schwartz, 92, formerly of Monessen, died Friday, September 18, 2009 in Wexford House.He was born in Monessen on October 17, 1916, the son of the late John and Pauline Ellisher Schwartz. Fran was a life long resident of Monessen, a 1935 graduate of Monessen High School and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, its chior and Holy Name Society. He was retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy. Fran was an avid card player and enjoyed singing and baking. He is the beloved father of Francis Dean and Veronica Schwartz of New Jersey, Mark and Magdalena Schwartz of Mesa, AZ, Susan and John Hogan of Pittsburgh, Amy and Daniel Schmid of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Kerr Schwartz in 1996, and by six sisters and five brothers.Friends will be received on Sunday Sept. 20th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday Sept. 21, 2009, beginning with a 10:00 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
