Gloria Salotti Dawson, 73, of Monessen, died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc..She was born in Monessen on September 5, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ella DiBartolomeo Salotti. Gloria was a 1954 graduate of Monessen High School, received her bachelors degree in education from California University, and her masters degree in Speech and Hearing Pathology from Penn State University. She retired with 30 years of service from the Westmoreland County Intermediate Unit # 7, having taught the hearing impaired. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and its Choir, the Epiphany Ladies, Catholic B.P.W., and the Italian-American Heritage Society, all of Monessen. Gloria enjoyed traveling, singing in the Epiphany Choir and volunteering for numerous functions at her church. She loved the arts, attending many theater and ballet performances, and was an avid Pittsburgh Penquins fan. Some of her fondest memories were the times she spent with her friends in the Red Hat Society.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharie and John Amprim of Rostraver Twp., a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Ann Salotti of Acme, two step granddaughters, Azalyn and Arielle Amprim, a niece, Nicole Salotti and husband Joseph Carringer of Portsmith, NH, her favorite companions, Bella and Leno, and her granddog, Chase.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, beginning with a 11:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen.The Catholic P.B.W. and the Epiphany Ladies will conduct a Prayer Service on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
