Joanne R. (Mascitelli) LaPresti

December 26, 1930 — April 11, 2014

Joanna R. LaPresti, 83, of Monessen, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home. She was born in N. Charleroi on December 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Frank and Stella A. Ranallo Mascitelli. Joanne was a lifelong resident of Monessen, a 1948 graduate of Monessen High School, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She had worked at a seamstress at Magura's Clothing Factory and then for Charland Sportswear in Speers, retiring in 1993. Following her retirement, she worked at various part time jobs, including as a school crossing guard, a meter maid for the city, a secretary at the Monessen Civic Center, a clerk at the Pasta Shoppe, and was currently employed as a receptionist at the Monessen Municipal Complex. She was a member of the Catholic Business and Professional Women, and volunteered at for Monongahela Valley Hospital and Monessen Food Pantry. Joanne enjoyed playing cards and loved to bowl, having belonged to the former Monessen Ladies City Bowling League, duck pin and ten pin. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Patrick Clancy of Conneaut, OH, a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald A. and Karen LaPresti of Latrobe, six grandsons, Nick (Stacy) Zawoyski, Nathan (Kristen) Zawoyski, Aaron LaPresti, Michael LaPresti, Neil Churman, Kyle Churman, two great grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Zawoyski, a sister and brother-in-law, Frannie and Joseph Minno of Monessen, her long time companion Steve Popelich of Monessen, and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony J. LaPresti, a brother Richard Mascitelli, and by a daughter-in-law Julie Menendez LaPresti. Visitation, services, and entombment in Mon. Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum are private.
