John J. Tutena

John J. Tutena, of Monessen, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Molinaro Manor, Oakdale, PA.He was born in Monessen on September 20, 1921, the son of the late John and Mary Peshok Tutena. John was a lifelong resident of Monessen, a graduate of Monessen Vocational School, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Monessen Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association No. 1, 60 plus year member American Legion Post 28, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 954. John retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., having worked in the mechanical department.John was a veteran of WWII, having served in China, Burma, and India with the U.S. Army as a Tech Sergeant. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Margaret "Peggy" King Tutena, two daughters and sons-in-law; Sandra L. Vandevort and her husband David of Oakdale, Joan L. Henninger and her husband Robert of Pittsburgh, three grandchildren; Scott (Mandy) Senko of Nichols, NY, Michael (Dana) Vidale of Pittsburgh, Jonathan (Melissa) Senko of Bridgeville, three great grandchildren; Alexandra, Sidney, and Bradyn Senko, and by four nephews; Bernard (Janet) Paterra of Bethel Park, Daniel (Judy) Paterra of Michigan, and Guy Paterra of Florida, Gary (Kim) Tutena of Youngwood, and a niece Christine Tutena of Smithton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Tutena, and a sister, Dorothy Paterra.Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.The following services will be held on Thursday evening in the funeral home: Monessen Fire Dept. No. 1 at 6:00 pm, American Legion Post 28 at 6:30 pm, and the Knights of Columbus Council 954 at 7:00 pm.Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
