John "Moon" Selestak, 90, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2021 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. He was born on July 5, 1930 in Monessen, the son of the late William and Mary (Zydowski) Selestak. Moon was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1948 graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and a life member of the Ukrainian Club in Monessen. He retired with 43 years of service from Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Corporation's Allenport Plant. Moon enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a "Mr. Fix It" for his ability to fix just about anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Michaeline "Mickey" (Notorangelo) Selestak, two sisters, Anne Morrow and Mary Capolino, and by three brothers, Alex, Michael, and Stephen Selestak. Surviving are his son, John M. (Teri) Selestak of Chesterfield, MO; daughter, Sharon (Angelo) Garofalo of Pleasant Hills; granddaughter, Alissa (Joseph) Hunt; and by nieces and nephews. Private visitation and funeral services were held in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment followed in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
