Joseph Alfred LaPresti

Joseph Alfred LaPresti, 98, of Monessen, died Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Havencrest Nursing Center. He was born in Monessen on November 5, 1916, the son of the late Samuel LoPresti and the late Margaret Rosa LoPresti. Joe was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, where he served as usher for many years. He was also a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Belle Vernon Moose, and Tri County Federation of Musicians, having served as president for many years. Mr. LaPresti had worked as an auto mechanic at Franks Service Garage in Monessen. In addition to being an auto mechanic, he was also a musician and had his own band, which he started in 1935, the Kent Thomas Orchestra. Mr. LaPresti was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in Company C, 70th Tank Battalion. He is survived by his son, Kent (Helen) LaPresti of Monongahela, a sister, Marie Petrulli of Port Vue, two grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) LaPresti of Tampa, FL, Craig (Leann) LaPresti of Mt. Pleasant, three great grandchildren, Anthony, Tyler, and Allie LaPresti, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Sierakowski) LaPresti, a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and JoAnna LaPresti, and by a sister Santina Minardi. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in Mon. Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Donora. American Legion Post 659 will conduct services on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.  Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
