Leo Janol, 77, of Monessen, died Monday, January 9, 2012 in U.P.M.C. Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.He was born in West Elizabeth, PA on June 8, 1934, the son of the late Harry Janolewicz and Mary (Supernovich) Econovich Janolewicz. Leo was a graduate of Elizabeth High School, and received his bachelor of science degree in metallurgic engineering from Carnegie Tech. Following graduation, he work at Combustion Engineering in Monongahela, and then for American Chain and Cable Co., Pages Division in Monessen. Leo retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he was a supervisor in quality control. Leo had been a resident of Monessen for the past 53 years and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sophia (Raymond) Janol of Monessen, a sister, Shirley (Econovich) Kisselovich of Elizabeth Twp., two brothers-in-law; Lewis Raymond of Library, and Ralph Raymond of Acme, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Joseph, Charles, and Raymond Econovich, Tom Edwards, four sisters; Margaret Swonger Arbutine, Stella Hempfield, Catherine Belich, and Antoinette Janolewicz Andresky.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
