Margaret (Marinos) Peters

Margaret (Marinos) Peters, 91, of Stockdale, formerly of Monessen, died Wednesday September 16, 2015 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.. She was born in Monessen on October 19, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Kaliope Mavrikas Marinos. Mrs. Peters was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and its Philoptochos Society. She had worked as a seamstress at the former Cox's Clothing Store and Brookvale Clothing Factory. Yia Yia was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, having attended home games with her family. During the winter months, she enjoyed going to Florida with family and friends. While spending time at home, she loved to read, knit, and crochet. She is survived by a son, George M. (Paula) Peters of Bristol, VA, two daughters, Kassandra (Steve) Bagiatis of Stockdale, Joanne (Wayne) Hamel of Stockdale, a sister, Catherine Marinos of Monessen, 9 grandsons, Jonathan, Dean, George, and Christopher (Pam) Danas, Steve (Alicia) and Nick (Kristen) Bagiatis, Jason (Kelly) and Damon Peters, and Michael (Stephanie) Barndollar, 21 great grandchildren, Danielle, Nikki, Meghan, Andrew, Gabrielle, Brianna, Alexandra, Christopher, Sara, Hunter, Fisher, Thais, Taylor, Reid, Olivia, Christopher, Sofia, Rylan, Dylan, Wesley, and Brynley, 2 great, great grandchildren, Teagan and AvaMay, and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George T. Peters and by a daughter Marie Danas Murphy. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Everyone is to meet at St. Spyridon G.O. Church on Monday at 10:00 am, where the funeral service will be held with Rev. Fr. George L. Livanos, officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. Trisagion services will be held on Sunday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be made to St. Spyridon G.O.
