Margaret S. Powlowsky

Margaret S. Stunda -Powlowsky, 94, was called to be with her Lord on June 18, 2025, in Monessen. She was born on January 18, 1931, in Donora, the eighth child of the late Suzanna Toth Gayla and George Stunda Sr. She began her education at St Dominic Parochial School and graduated from Donora Senior High School in 1948. She worked at the Donora Public Library and later for the Borough of Charleroi Water Company. She and her husband, the late Thomas P. Powlowsky, traveled extensively in their retirement years and worshiped at Epiphany of our Lord Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother George Stunda Jr and six sisters Anna Ferrone (John), Mary Grill (Arden) Veronica Low (Edward Sr), Susan (in infancy) Helen Laskodi (George), Irene Stevens (Lloyd) and seven nephews, Richard Ferrone, John F. Stunda, George Stunda III, Edward Lowe, Michael Laskodi, Terry Laskodi, Max Lowe, Dennis Grill and Edward Grill. She is survived by many nephews and nieces and she was proud to be a Great, Great, Great Aunt. She was fortunate to have her niece, Terry Powlowsky Frederick, as a caretaker in her later years. She was an avid reader and her hobbies were sewing, needlework and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed watching sports and was proud of her Slovakian heritage. Friends will be received Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, beginning with a blessing service at 10:30 am in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church beginning at 11:00 am.
