Mario J. "Mooch" Muccino Sr., 80, of Dunlevy, formerly of Monessen, died Monday, September 28, 2009 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Monessen on April 11, 1929, the son of the late Rocco and Nunzia (Galuppo) Muccino. Mario grew up in Monessen and was a 1947 graduate of Monessen High School. He had worked 46 years at the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in the Tube Mill and the Strip Mill, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph's R. C. Church in Roscoe, Mon Valley Shipmates, American Legion Post 801 in Roscoe, Eagles Aerie 2399 in Monessen, and a Life member of the Sons of Italy. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Des Moines.He is survived by six children, Mario J. Muccino and wife Norma of Monessen, Michael E. Muccino and wife Julia of Rostraver Twp., Barbara Ann Sanders of Donora, Nancy Rulong and husband Harry of Kissimmee, FL, Rocco A. Muccino and Robert S. Muccino, both of Dunlevy, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Irene Muccino and Anthony Muccino, all of Belle Vernon, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary P. (Tissicino) Muccino in Jan. of 1989Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, beginning with a prayer at 8:15 am in the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's R. C. Church, Roscoe. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The Mon Valley Shipmates will conduct a Two Bell Ceremony on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
