Michael James Flaherty, 51, of Philadelphia, formerly of Monessen, died unexpectedly, Sunday March 24, 2013 at his homeHe was born in N. Charleroi on May 20, 1961, the son of the late James E. and Mary Vesio Flaherty. He grew up in Monessen and was a 1979 graduate of Monessen High School. He attained his bachelor's degree in Education from California University and was a special education teacher. He was a former member of the PNA Club in Monessen.He is survived by his wife of ten years, Robin McLaughlin Flaherty, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christy Jo and John Sweeney of South Huntingdon Twp., Terri Ann and Michael Fisher of Monessen, his nieces and nephews, Jamie, Michael, and Eric Fisher of Monessen, John Sweeney of South Huntingdon Twp., Cathy (Vinnie) DeRose, Ashville, OH, and by two great nieces, Olivia DeRose and Brynn Fisher.Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen, on Thursday March 28, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Thursday at 8:00 pm in the funeral home with Fr. James Bump, officiating.
