Pierre A. Luti

Pierre A. Luti, 92, of Monessen, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home. He was born in Italy on February 11, 1922, the son of the late Adolph and Elisa Giannotti Luti. Pierre was a 1941 graduate of Monessen High School and Washington School of Art, receiving his diploma in Commercial Art. He went on to study Painting and Design at Carnegie Tech. Mr. Luti was president and owner of the Pierre A. Luti Advertising Company in Monessen for 65 years. He was a veteran of WW II, serving with the Army Air Force. Pierre was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 954 having served in many capacities, Bishop Phelan Assembly of the Fourth Degree, past Commander of American Legion Post 28, Joe Walker Mon Valley Chapter Air Force Association, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, North Italian Political Association, life member of American Sons of Italy, Italian Heritage Society of Pittsburgh, Monessen Elks 773, and the Fifth District Democratic Club. He served on the Monessen Planning Commission for 31 years, the Monessen School Board, and the Monessen Board of Appeals, having held numerous offices and positions. Pierre also was a former member of the Monessen Chamber of Commerce, and the Donora, Charleroi, and Monongahela Chambers of Commerce. He is survived his son, Damian P. Luti of Monessen, a grandson, Christopher James Luti of Coal Center, a sister and brother-in-law, Nada (Nino) Nicoletti of Greensburg, his Godchild, Karen (Jim) Lewitsky of Monessen, cousin's, Maryann Dusua of Chapel Hill, NC, and Marlene Andrus of Frederick, MD, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Yolanda "Lani" Mosco Luti. Friends will be received on Sunday July 20, 2014 from 2 to 6 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Entombment will follow in the Luti Family Mausoleum, Mon. Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The following services will be conducted on Sunday in the funeral home: American Legion Post 28 at 3:00 pm, Knights of Columbus Council 954 at 4:00 pm, and the Bishop Phelan Assembly honor guard from 4:00 pm to 6 :00 pm.
