Rev. Msgr. P. Lino Ramellini

Msgr. P. Lino Ramellini, 88, of Monessen, a retired priest of the Diocese of Greensburg, died Friday, Aug. 28, in his home. He was a priest of the diocese for 45 years. Msgr. Ramellini was born May 29, 1921, to the late Giuseppe and Letizia (D'Angeli) Ramellini in Trevi Nel Lazio, Frosinone, Italy. He was raised in Italy and attended Trevi primary school and Frascati secondary school. He attended St. Francis College, Rome, Italy, and completed his priestly formation at St. Francesco a Ripa Seminary, also in Rome.Msgr. Ramellini was ordained a priest March 17, 1947, at St. Francis Church, Rome, Italy. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Greensburg Feb. 13, 1964.He was named Domestic Prelate of Honor with the title of monsignor Feb. 18, 1986.Prior to his incardination into the diocese, he served in the Diocese of Panama in the Republic of Panama.Msgr. Ramellini served as assistant pro tem at Mount St. Peter Parish, New Kensington (1957-61) and assistant of the former St. Catherine Parish, Leechburg (1961-67).He served as pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Brady's Bend, and its mission church in Sugar Creek (1967-70) and the former St. Cajetan Parish, Monessen (1970-91).Msgr. Ramellini was appointed director of Apostleship of Prayer in 1967. He was vicar forane for Deanery VI and served on the Board of Consulters (1974-1982). He served as vicar forane for Deanery V (1984-87). He was a member of the Priests' Council (1984-88) and was named an Ex Officio member in 1988. Msgr. Ramellini retired from active ministry Jan. 30, 1991, and resided in his personal residence in Monessen.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers.He is survived nieces and nephews in Italy and Panama.Visitation will be at the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen, (724-684-8750) on Monday Aug. 31st from 7 to 9 pm and on Tuesday Sept. 1st from 2 to 4 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, 618 Knox Ave. Monessen, followed by visitation until 9:00 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with The Most Reverend Lawrence E. Brandt, Bishop of Greensburg as celebrant. Interment will be in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials in The Rev. Msgr. P.
