Valia (Spadafore) Mazzocco, 85, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Sherman Home in Phoenix, AZ.She was born in Monessen on November 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Mariano and Vincenzia (Dodaro) Spadafore. Mrs. Mazzocco lived in Monessen most of her life before moving to Scottsdale, AZ, two years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a 1945 graduate of Monessen High School and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Mazzocco worked at Keystone Bakery for many years, and her and her husband Dominic, were the original owners and operators of "The Pasta Shoppe" in Monessen.She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dominic V. Mazzocco, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Dugan of Scottsdale, AZ, a son, Albert Mazzocco of Columbia, SC, two granddaughters, Nicole and Cameron Martin of Valencia, PA, and Stephanie and Gennaro DiPiazza of Monessen, a great grandson, Xavier Martin, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Alfred, Albert, Emil, and Hugo Spadafore.Friends will be received on Thursday May 31, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750). Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, with Rev. Michael Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to: Hospice of the Valley/Sherman Home, Fund Development, 1510 E.
