Viola D. Gernot, 82, of Monessen, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 in U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital.She was born in Monessen on June 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Peter and Maria Godzikowski Drop.Mrs. Gernot was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, and was retired from Verizon, having worked as a telephone operator.She is survived by a brother, Edmund Leonard Drop of San Jose, CA, a sister-in-law, Ann Drop of Alexandria, VA, and by several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Michael Popik and George Gernot, a brother Stanley Drop, and by two sisters, Lottie Kovalitski and Monica Drop.A Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday March 27 in the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment followed in St. Michael's Cemetery, Donora.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen.
