William B. Holzapfel, 84, of Charleroi, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Mount Vernon of Elizabeth.He was born in South Strabane Twp. on March 31, 1925, the son of the late Gerald Holzapfel and Frances Rogers Holzapfel. Bill was a retired electrician from the Irvin Works of USS Steel. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Izard in the Philippines during the Pacific Theater. Bill and his late wife Mary enjoy many years of motorcycle riding, with trips to Daytona Beach, FL and Ocean City, MD.He is survived by two sons, William B. Holzafel Jr. of N. Charleroi, Myron D. Sprowls of Charleroi, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Valdiserri of Sun City West, AR, a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Joseph Kay of Florida, two granddaughters, Daisy Holzapfel of Charleroi, Billy Lee Moss of Rockville, Idaho, and by nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joyce Cook Holzapfel, and by a daughter, Lori Sprowls-Staley.Friends will be received on Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday June 22, 2009, at9:30 am in the funeral home, with Rev.
