William A. Magnone Sr., 88, of Monessen, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his home. He was born in Monessen on Sept. 24, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Caroline Mandarino Magnone. Bill was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. He retired from Monessen Southwestern Railroad having worked as equipment operator on the track gang. Following his retirement, he worked for Tri County Access as a taxi cab driver. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. (Linda) Magnone Jr. and Larry K. (Hope) Magnone, all of Monessen, two daughters, Rochelle Magnone of Monessen, Michelle Magnone of Southwest Greensburg, a granddaughter, Nicole Magnone and fiancé Matt Wick of Pittsburgh, a brother, Albert (Wanda) Magnone of Monongahela, a sister, Julia Altemare of Charleroi, and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley M. (Rodgers) Magnone, two sisters Virginia Trilli and Margaret DiPiazza, and by two brothers, George and Jerry Magone. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church.
