Armand P. Mori, 91, of Dawsonville, GA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Monessen, died Saturday, June 22, 2013.He was born in Monessen on September 10, 1921, the son of the late Giovanni and Maria Mori. Armand was a 1939 graduate of Monessen High School and obtained his B.S. Degree in Mathematics at California University. He continued his studies in mathematics earning his Master's degree at the University of Virginia. Mr. Mori taught in the Monessen School District for many years, and also served as Atheletic Director. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and a member and past president of Monessen Lions Club, having been the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also a member of the Thomas McKee Post 28 American Legion, and a life member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 773. While living in Mt. Pleasant, he belong to the V.F.W. 3368 and the Polish Falcons Nest 147.He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the troop ship APA 35 US Cambria. His entire service consisted of landing troops on the islands in the South Pacific, with the majority on the Philippine Islands. As a second class gunners mate, his responsibility was to keep all the guns working at all times.He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Janie Greijack Mori Tinsley and husband Hubert Tinsley of Dawsonville, GA, a grandson, Jonathan (Bethany) Mori of Bethel Park, two granddaughters, Lindsey and Lauren Mori serving in the U.S. Navy, his son-in-law, Terry Moon of Weston, FL, a dear friend, Clara Schultz of Mt. Pleasant, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Pellegrini Mori, his son Daryl Mori, his daughter Denise Moon, and by a granddaughter Leah Mori.Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, on Saturday July 6, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 pm. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Lena, in Monongahela Cemetery.The following services will be held on Saturday July 6, 2013 in the funeral home: Thomas McKee Post 28 American Legion at 4:30 pm, and Monessen Lions Club at 5:00 pm.Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
