Raven William Anderson, 58, of Monessen, transitioned peacefully at home on Sunday in Monessen after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 14, 1963 in North Charleroi, PA, the son of the late Emanuel Anderson Sr. and Thelma (Chapman) Anderson. He was a member of Gate of Heaven of God in Christ. He was a very active member within the church serving as a deacon, he also spread his praises for God through his voice not only as a member of the church choir but also as a soloist. Raven was active with the youth in the community working in the church as a vacation bible study teacher and as a chaperone for many outings to various sporting and cultural events in Pittsburgh. Raven was a 1983 Graduate of Monessen High School. He worked as an exhaust floor operator for the former Koppers, Arcelor Mittal and now Cleveland Cliffs Mill in Monessen, served as the Grievance Representative for his Local United Steelworkers of America Union. He was known by many as one of the hardest workers that they know. He was skilled in many trades and he has worked hard doing many projects in the church along with helping many in the community with any maintenance issues that they may have especially helping the elderly and widows. Surviving are his wife Jessica (Whiteside) Anderson, two daughters, Ta'Nesha (Tarelle) Irwin of Monessen, Raven J. Anderson of Monessen; Two Step sons, Matthew Keith of Panama City, FL, Ray Keith of North Charleroi; Brother, Roscoe D. Anderson of North Charleroi; two sisters, Carol Ann Steed of San Jose, CA, JoAnn (David) Smith of Uniontown; Grandchildren, Alaya, Tahja, Jadynn, Faith, Talon, Brennan, Treysen, and Trinity; a special God-daughter Monet Wade, and many other God-children. Friends will be received on Thursday October 28th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Gate of Heaven of God in Christ Church, 644 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Friday, October 29th beginning with a visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the church and Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am, with Rev. William C. Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family kindly asks that all who attend visitation and or the funeral service please wear a face mask. Also, if you plan on sending food please take it to the church between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Thursday.
