Obituary

Rene (Comoglio) Moncini, 98, of Monessen, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Hallsworth House, Monessen. She was born on September 28, 1924 in Denbo, Centerville Boro, the daughter of the late John and Caroline (Visetti) Comoglio. Rene graduated from Centerville High School in 1942. She originally was a member of St. Leonard R. C. Church and later the Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies, the former Catholic BPW, and the C.D.of A. where she was a member for over 60 years. She was a charter member of the former Italian American Heritage Society. In 1988 she and her late husband started the C.D. of A. outdoor rosary in their back yard, and sponsored the rosary thier for 16 years. The rosary event is still being held today at Mary's Garden outside the Epiphany Church. Rene was an avid volunteer at the church, where she helped with funeral luncheons, fish frys, and pierogi making. She and her late husband also assisted with the Monessen Meals on Wheels program delivering meals for 17 years. Rene was formerly employed as a secretary for her late husband at the family business "A. Moncini and Sons Beer Distributor" in Monessen. She later worked as a Medical Secretary in the office of David E. Brougher, MD in Charleroi. Rene was a doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to bake and cook Italian dishes for her family. She loved to teach her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to make her favorite Cappellettis, Ravolis, Biscotti, and Pizzelles. Surviving are her daughter, Linda (James) Harris of Deep Creek Lake, MD; son Arthur J. Moncini of Washington Twp., three grandchildren, Laura (Joseph) Moncini-Rotolo of Belle Vernon, Carlin (Marcio) Liborio of Wylie,TX, Ryan (Shannon) Moncini of Belle Vernon; eight great-children, Morgan Moncini-Rotolo, Anthony Coccari, Hailey Liborio, Dominic, Arianna, and Emma Moncini, Brady and Riely Rotolo; a special niece Joan (Wayne) Trimble, and by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Reno Moncini, daughter-in-law Susan (Deneen) Moncini, and by a sister Anita Gibson. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday beginning with a Blessing service at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The C.D. of A. and the Epiphany Ladies will conduct a prayer service on Friday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
